MEDIA REMINDER: UND joins with UMC to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The University of North Dakota and University of Minnesota Crookston collaborate for another celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.

Who: UND Multicultural Student Services (MSS) and University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC)

What: A community-wide celebration in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. UND MSS and UMC have planned a full day of free programming and activities that are open to the public.

When: Monday, Jan. 20, starting at 11 a.m.

Where: Grand Forks, N.D. and Crookston, Minn.

Schedule:
Grand Forks, N.D.
11 a.m. – Unity Walk from Central High School (115 N 4th St.) to the Empire Arts Center (415 Demers Ave.)
11:30 a.m. – Celebration Program “The Faces of Civil rights: It isn’t just a Black Thing” – Empire Arts Center (Featuring the Northstar Council, Red River High School Building Bridges, Central High School Art Display, Spoken Word, and Diversity Award, UMC Choir, UMC Black Student Association)
12:30 p.m. – Social – Empire Arts Center
1:30 p.m. – UND Student Senate and the North Dakota Student Association – Empire Arts Center

Crookston, Minn.
2:30 p.m.
– University of Minnesota Crookston Service Project at North Country Food Bank (424 N Broadway)
7 p.m. – Presentation: “The King Years: Historic Moments in the Civil Rights Movement,” a book written by Taylor Branch – reception and book-signing in Kiehle (2900 University Avenue) Rotunda after presentation.
