UND’s ‘Denim & Diamonds’ staff celebration set for Feb. 22

The University of North Dakota 2013 staff and faculty celebration, now known as Denim & Diamonds, hosted by UND Staff Senate, will be held at the Gorecki Alumni Center on Friday, Feb. 22, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

This annual faculty and staff celebration started in 2010 to  give the UND family a chance to come together to network, celebrate, mingle and learn more about each other in a fun and relaxed setting.   Formerly known as Emerald & Ice, this annual event seeks to build bridges by bringing people together across disciplines and employment categories.  This year the name was changed to Denim & Diamonds to reflect a more comfortable and casual theme which will hopefully attractable more people to the event.

All UND staff, faculty, family and friends are welcome and the attire is denim or diamonds or both.   There will be live music; delicious gourmet appetizers; mock-gaming; the opportunity to participate in the inaugural “diamond in a box” event for a chance to win a $3,000 .51 ct. solitaire diamond; and bid on silent auction items valued at over $6,500. A display with silent auction items is set up in the Internet Café located just outside of Stomping Grounds in the Memorial Union.

All proceeds raised during the event will be matched by UND President Robert Kelley and will go toward supporting “Seeds for Staff Success!” “Seeds for Staff Success” is a new program designed to provide monetary assistance to UND benefited staff needing help to fund their professional development.  There are 50 tickets still available, $20 each or $35 for two, please contact Trish Hodny at 701.777.6265 or hodny@law.und.edu to reserve your tickets.
