“Let’s do the Time Warp again” with Nine and Numb, a University of North Dakota alumni founded comedy troupe. They will be presenting their 10th Anniversary production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show – LIVE!, Friday, Oct. 26; Saturday, Oct. 27, and Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Empire Arts Center in Grand Forks.
The show includes a live cast performing along with the cult classic on the big screen.
“It’s about having fun in a safe alcohol free environment, especially on Halloween,” said Kelly Clow, creative director of Nine and Numb.
Formed in 2000 by nine UND students, Nine and Numb is a multifaceted entertainment company that produces full stage shows at various venues across the country.
Performances of Rocky Horror began in 2002 when at an after party someone put in the movie and the troupe informally started having fun.
“We thought why don’t we do this for a crowd? We got the rights to the movie and so many people showed up that we decided to make it a yearly thing.” Clow said.
The troupe started at the Scott Hanson’s Comedy Gallery at the Fabulous Westward Ho entertainment complex in Grand Forks. Nine and Numb has since expanded its base of operations to Tampa, Fla., in 2005 where it now performs at the Carrollwood Players Theater. But they always come back to Grand Forks.
“This town loves to have fun, that’s why I keep coming back.” Clow said.
Doors open at 11 p.m. and show time is at 11:59 p.m.
Tickets are $12 at all Ticketmaster outlets and will also be available at the door.
