Dr. Nancy Vogeltanz-Holm, the Director of the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research (CHPPR) and Professor of Clinical Neuroscience at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences; along with Dr. Jeffrey Holm, Professor of Psychology and Senior Scientist at CHPPR will present the first lecture of the 2012-2013 University Faulty Lecture Series.
The lecture is titled “Promoting Health in North Dakota Communities: Outcomes from a Decade of Community-Based Participatory Research” and will be held at the North Dakota Museum of Art, Thursday, Oct. 18. The lecture starts at 4p.m., followed by a reception at 5p.m.
This lecture is free and open to the public.
Dr. Nancy Vogeltanz-Holm and Dr. Jeffrey Holm:
Dr. Nancy Vogeltanz-Holm is the Director of the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research and Professor of Clinical Neuroscience at the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Vogeltanz-Holm received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Maine in 1993 after completing an internship at the University of Mississippi Medical School and the Jackson Veterans Administration Hospital. She has held a faculty appointment in the Department of Clinical Neuroscience since 1993 and served on the faculty in the Department of Psychology from 1995 to 2003. Dr. Vogeltanz-Holm is a licensed psychologist, past-president of the North Dakota Psychological Association, and a recipient of the “Charles E. Kupchella Preventive Medicine and Wellness Award.”
Dr. Jeffrey Holm is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at UND and the Senior Scientist at the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Holm received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Ohio University in 1987 after completing his internship at the University of Mississippi Medical School and the Jackson Veterans Administration Hospital. Dr. Holm joined the faculty at UND in 1987. Dr. Holm is a licensed psychologist, past-president of the North Dakota Psychological Association and the North Dakota State Board of Psychologist Examiners, and has been honored as an “Outstanding Lecturer” by the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Since 2003, Dr. Vogeltanz-Holm, Dr. Holm, and their many colleagues have developed and evaluated several community health projects in partnership with over 3000 students, employees, and patients across North Dakota. Their work is dedicated to developing best practices for preventing chronic diseases; to the teaching and training of the behavioral sciences to health professions students; and to improving health behaviors and outcomes for economically disadvantaged persons.
