Registered Dietitian, Karina Wittmann will be visiting with the high school students Wednesday, June 20, during their wellness sessions at the UND Wellness Center in June, as a part of INMED’s Summer Institute Program.
During student’s visit with Wittmann, they will learn about the importance of eating meals with their families, as well as ways to make it easier and most enjoyable to eat together as a family.
As a Kids Eat Right Campaign Volunteer, Wittmann was awarded one of 50 mini-grants by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation to support such initiatives. Kids Eat Right is a platform designed to ensure that sound nutrition recommendations are part of childhood obesity prevention.
The Summer Institute Program is a six-week enrichment session for American Indian students at the junior high, high school and medical preparatory levels. The summer programs are designed to bolster participants’ math and science skills, introduce health career requirements, and help develop potential for success in health science careers.
