UND fraternity wins award at regional leadership conference

Delegates from Sigma Phi Epsilon’s North Dakota-Alpha chapter at the University of North Dakota received the Excelsior Award last month for success in fall recruitment.

Chapter delegates from UND attended the Carlson Leadership Academy in Chicago, Ill., from Feb. 24-26.  The academy is organized by the Sigma Phi Epsilon National Fraternity and is designed to prepare and train chapter officers.

Seven delegates represented the North Dakota-Alpha Chapter at the academy: Adam Lurie (chapter president); Patrick Kloeckner (member development); Nick Petronio (recruitment); Kyle See-Rockers (communications); Luke Sosniecki (chaplain); Chris Brauckman (programming); and Mark Becker.

At an awards breakfast held during the academy, UND’s delegates accepted the Excelsior Award, presented to a chapter that made significant improvement within its operations.  North Dakota-Alpha received the award based on its fall 2011 recruitment success, having recruited 23 new members — an 80% growth in the chapter’s membership size.
