Rebecca Polansky, a University of North Dakota senior from Gatzke, Minn., has been named the University of North Dakota Student Employee of the Year.Â The Student Employee of the Year is a program sponsored by the National Student Employment Association (NSEA), with which UND is in its third year. Rebecca has worked three years as a Laboratory Assistant for the Chemistry Department. Rebecca is currently seeking a degree in Occupational Therapy.
David Knittel, chemist, as Rebeccaâ€™s supervisor, nominated her for her outstanding work ethic and attitude.
â€œRebecca demonstrates the highest quality of work I have ever seen. Her safety techniques are excellent with never an accident and her lab work is always accurate and precise.â€ Knittel explains. â€œShe is the most positive person I have ever met and she sees this in every situation and each person.â€
The UND Student Employee of the Year recipient receives a $500 award and her name will be listed on the Student Employee of the Year plaque. Rebeccaâ€™s nomination form has been submitted to the Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators (MASEA) Regional Student Employee of the Year Committee.Â The selection committee will review her nomination against the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The Regional Student Employee of the Year will be named in March and submitted to the National Student Employee of the Year Committee.
There were 15 nominations submitted by UND department supervisors.
Rebecca will be recognized on April 29, 2011 during the Memorial Union Leadership Awards.
