‘Ski UND’ Slated For Today

Students and the community can join University of North Dakota First Lady Marcia Kelley in the 2nd Annual “Ski UND” on Wednesday, Jan. 19, on campus.

The UND Wellness Center is collaborating with campus and community members to create a temporary cross-country ski trail and hold various events from Jan. 19 through March 11 – weather permitting.  The ski route is located just west of the Wellness Center on a portion of the bike path along the English Coulee between 6th Avenue North and Gateway Drive.

“Ski UND” officially kicks off today, Jan.19, at 3:30 p.m. with opening ceremonies at the Wellness Center.  There will be refreshments and prizes for those who attend.  The goal is to help students and the community understand what resources are available for recreational activities and to promote a healthy lifestyle by encouraging fun, outdoor physical activity.

Anyone with a UND ID can check out ski equipment at the Wellness Center at no cost.  Equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  For those who have never skied, the Center will hold 10-minute clinics in cross-country skiing.  These Sessions are free of charge to those with UND IDs.
