UND Sets Farewell Reception For Martha A. Potvin, Dean Of Arts & Sciences

A reception to honor University of North Dakota Arts & Sciences Dean Martha A. Potvin, who has accepted the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Montana State University, will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., on Wednesday Dec. 1, in the lobby of the Northern Plains Center for Behavioral Research on the UND campus.

Dean Potvin has been leading the College of Arts & Sciences at UND since 2001, and she will be leaving for Montana in January of 2011. Under Dean Potvin’s leadership the College’s grant funded research has increased and several new programs were developed. Her personal accomplishments during her UND career include serving as UND’s interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs for one year, being selected by her peers to be President-elect of the Council of Arts & Sciences — a national organization encompassing 650 deans from 450 degree-granting institutions — and making available a number of online undergraduate degree programs.
